Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WS AUDITION, operating under the NILO brand, collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit nilohearing.com, use our website services or make a purchase.
1. Who we are

2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may process:
- Contact and delivery details: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, and country.
- Order and support information: products purchased, order dates, amounts and status, payment confirmations, purchase history, returns, warranty requests and correspondence with our team.
- Payment information: payments are handled by Shopify and the payment providers available at checkout. We do not normally receive your full card number; we receive transaction details needed to manage your order.
- Technical and browsing information: IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, timestamps, cart activity, website interactions and cookie or similar identifiers.
- Information you choose to provide: messages, reviews, survey responses, newsletter subscriptions and other form submissions.
Please do not send medical records or other sensitive health documents through our general contact forms or ordinary support email unless we have specifically arranged an appropriate secure process.
3. Hearing Check
Our website Hearing Check is an informational tool, not a medical diagnosis. Information entered during the check is processed to generate your result and, if you request it, send the result to your email address.
For the Hearing Check, we retain your email address only, not your answers or scores in our customer or marketing records. This does not mean that no processing takes place: generating and delivering your result requires processing the information involved. A result sent by email may remain in your inbox and may be processed by the email delivery providers. Technical and security information may also be processed as described elsewhere in this policy.
Requesting a Hearing Check result is separate from subscribing to promotional emails. We use your address to deliver the requested service; marketing communications are subject to the choices you make and any consent required by applicable law.
4. How and why we use information
- Orders and after-sales services: to process payments, deliver products, provide order updates, and handle returns, refunds and warranties. Where applicable, our legal basis is performance of our contract with you.
- Requested services and support: to deliver your requested Hearing Check email and respond to questions. Depending on the service and information involved, we rely on your request, consent where required, or our legitimate interest in providing support.
- Legal obligations: to maintain required accounting, tax and other records and respond to lawful requests.
- Security and fraud prevention: to protect customers, transactions and our website, based on our legitimate interests where applicable.
- Marketing: to send news and offers in accordance with your preferences and with consent where required.
- Analytics and advertising: to understand website use, improve our services and measure or personalize advertising, subject to applicable consent and opt-out requirements.
5. Who receives information
Information may be shared with authorized staff and providers who support our store, including Shopify, payment processors, shipping and fulfillment partners, hosting and security providers, email delivery and customer-support services, and analytics or advertising partners subject to applicable privacy choices. We may also disclose information to professional advisers or authorities where necessary to meet legal obligations or protect legal rights.
Providers acting on our behalf process information for the services entrusted to them. Some providers, including payment services and Shopify for certain features, may also act independently under their own privacy policies.
6. Shopify
Our store is hosted on Shopify. Shopify processes information needed to operate the storefront, checkout, payments, security and other enabled services. Depending on the features you use and our store settings, Shopify may also process information for its own purposes, as explained in its policy.
Read the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy or visit the Shopify Privacy Portal for information about Shopify's practices and available privacy requests.
7. International processing
We are based in France, and our providers may process information in other countries, including outside the European Economic Area. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, these may include adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or other recognized mechanisms. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your data.
8. How long we retain information
We retain information for the purposes described in this policy and for applicable legal, accounting or dispute-resolution requirements. Retention depends on the type of information and why it is needed:
- Invoices and accounting records are retained for 10 years from the end of the relevant financial year.
- Customer, order, return and warranty information is retained for the relationship and applicable legal or claims periods.
- Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle the request and relevant follow-up or claims.
- Prospect and marketing information is generally retained for up to three years after the last contact or expression of interest, unless you withdraw your consent or another lawful reason requires limited retention.
- The email address collected through the Hearing Check is retained as needed for the requested service and, separately, any marketing subscription you choose. Hearing Check answers and scores are not retained in our customer or marketing records.
- Cookie and technical-data retention varies by purpose and provider.
We may retain limited information to record an opt-out, meet a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
9. Cookies and privacy choices
Cookies and similar technologies, such as pixels and local storage, can store or read information on your device. Necessary technologies support features such as your cart, checkout, security and privacy preferences. Other technologies may support analytics, personalization or advertising.
Where consent is required, non-essential technologies are subject to that consent. Use the privacy or cookie controls displayed on our website to manage available choices. You can also visit Your Privacy Choices or contact us for help. Browser settings can limit cookies, although blocking necessary cookies may affect store functionality.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or its use for targeted advertising. These legal terms can cover some advertising-related disclosures even when no money is exchanged.
10. Email preferences
You can unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe link in a message or by emailing contact@nilohearing.com. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary order, delivery, return, warranty or other service messages you request.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location and the laws that apply, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of your information, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or receive information in a portable format. You may also have rights relating to certain automated decisions and, under French law, instructions concerning your information after death.
Where applicable US state law provides these rights, you may also request an opt-out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, use an authorized agent, or appeal a decision on a privacy request. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
To submit a request, email contact@nilohearing.com. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity or an agent's authority. We respond within the period required by the law applicable to your request. Some requests are subject to legal exceptions, such as required accounting records.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. You may complain to your competent data protection authority, including the French CNIL.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information. No online service or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. If you create an account, use a strong, unique password and keep your login details private.
13. Companion applications
This policy covers the NILO website. A companion application used with our products may process separate information for sound analysis or personalized listening settings. Consult the privacy information available in the application or its download listing for those practices. The website Hearing Check retention statement above does not describe a companion application's data handling.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the latest update. For questions about this policy or your personal information, contact contact@nilohearing.com.
